What is endoscopic facelift surgery?

Endoscopic facelift surgery is the process of lifting the upper and middle areas of the face by making 2 or 4 small incisions on the scalp with the use of a camera and instruments of a diameter of 4 mm. If necessary, an additional incision can be made through the mouth. Since the operation is performed with the help of a camera, the surgeon can see all anatomical structures under magnification.

Am I a good candidate for endoscopic facelift surgery?

Endoscopic face lift surgery is suitable for people who have sagging on the forehead and mid-face areas due to gravity, but who do not have much skin problems and whose skin has not lost its elasticity yet. It is not effective for deformations in the neck and lower face areas. In these conditions, endoscopic facelift can be applied together with other neck and lower face lift procedures. When applied alone, people in the 40-55 age group are often suitable candidates.

What should I do before endoscopic facelift surgery?

As in all surgeries, aspirin and tobacco should be stopped 3 weeks before the endoscopic facelift surgery. In the 10 days prior to surgery, drugs that can thin the blood, aspirin, painkillers, herbal teas, supplements such as vitamin E and fish oil, multivitamins should not be used.

Step-by-step surgery process:

Anesthesia: General anesthesia is applied.

Surgical procedure: 2 or 4 small incisions are made into the scalp. The medical camera and instruments are placed through these incisions, the entire forehead area, the area around the eyes and cheekbones are peeled from under the bone membrane. If necessary, an additional small incision is made from the inside of the mouth. All these parts are lifted and hung up like a mask. The fixation to the skull bones is achieved with the help of screws, bone tunnels or special absorbable devices.

What should I expect after endoscopic facelift surgery?

Endoscopic facelift surgery is not a painful surgery. You may feel pain only at the areas of fixation. These are relieved with simple painkillers.

Rather than pain, there may be a feeling of tension and pressure on the face, which passes completely within a few days.

You can start walking as exercise 1 week after the surgery and start doing heavy sports after 4-6 weeks in accordance with your physician’s recommendation.

Smoking should be avoided for 1 month after surgery.
